Farewell to Christelle

Christmas PantoPictured here at her Farewell Party with our lovely 102 year old Prieta Lopez is our very popular Christelle.

Christelle began work at Clermont in June 2004 as an Assistant-In- Nursing. With the encouragement of our Registered Nurses, Christelle commenced her Bachelor of Nursing with the Australian Catholic University completing the course in 2011. Christelle has now commenced her new placement program in the public system at Westmead Hospital. Although we will all miss her, we wish her all the best. Prieta turns 102!

Prieta turns 102!Yes it was that time of year again! Pictured here is our wonderful Prieta Lopez who turned 102 on the 28th January.

Prieta had a lovely day celebrating her birthday with a party of 15 family members coming to Clermont for afternoon tea, the centerpiece of which was this beautiful Birthday Cake. The downstairs dining room was decorated with Pink and White balloons, streamers, pink table clothes, serviettes and cups. A "Happy Birthday Prieta" message decorated the large white board. We know you had a lovely birthday and from all of your friends here at Clermont.

"Congratulations and Happy Birthday, Prieta!"

Clermont Panto

Christmas PantoIn December the Foolhardy Players put on another sellout and once only performance of the Annual Christmas Panto.

This year it was Robin Hoods turn to have his tale of daring-doo given the Clermont treatment at the hands of a cast of .....well, not thousands......... but an enthusiastic few. After rehearsing in their own time and often at the end of a long shift for months, the performance was (almost) flawless with lots of ad-libbing and fantastic acting particularly from our Physiotherapist Chris Dodd who did a great job as the hero, Robin Hood. Even his kids thought he was terrific!

Fess Foulkes our Diversional Therapist did a marvellous job in providing live music accompaniment and Baz Hallinan decided that for this year he would leave the high heels to Karuna Prasad to play Maid Marion whilst he took on the rotund role of Friar Tuck.

Christmas PantoLittle John was an astoundingly good performance from Christelle Ternel; our Director of Nursing, Dawn McDonald looked great in tights as Will Scarlett and the taxing role of the evil Sheriff of Nottingham was done by Steve Gordon. Other fabulous performances came from Evelyn Ellis, Emelda Zantua, Jason Rasuabale, Melissa Albrecht with special thanks to Julia Foulkes for the posters and programs even though she is living in London. Thanks too for the wonderful staging by Annette, Clive and Danny .

We must make special note for a wonderful cinematographic experience from Geordie McCrae. Geordie provides his time as a community service bringing along his camera, his expertise and his patience. He films the pantomime and provides us with the video's we sell to make money for the Therapy Program. Thank you very much Geordie and well done to everyone concerned for another very entertaining Christmas Pantomime.

Excellence in Aged Care

Excellence in aged care provided by Clermont was again recognised this year at the annual Aged Care Association Convention on the Gold Coast.

Pictured here with our Director Steve Gordon is Laraine Rutter, Jayne Shannon and Jan Abberfield. Pictured here with Director Steve Gordon is our Director of Nursing, Dawn McDonald receiving a trophy from Neil Saxton, Board Member of the HESTA Superannuation Fund naming Clermont as the 2011 Employer of Choice.

Many of the hundreds of members of ACAA applied for this prestigious award including many aged care organisations with multiple facilities and it is a credit to the professionalism and dedication of the staff at Clermont that of all the applicants Australia wide, it was Clermont Aged Care that took out the award.

The award judges were highly impressed with Clermont’s broad range of achievements including the quality of service provided to our residents, our staff development programs and the innovations we have put in place for the seniors in our care.

Clermont Aged Care Director Steve Gordon said: “These awards are a testament to the quality of care we provide at Clermont for our residents and particularly they recognise the hard work of our staff, our wonderful residents and the support we receive from the Ryde community."

at our Over 90's Club

Pictured here with some of our Lovely Ladies is our local Federal Member of Parliament, Mr. John Alexander.

Mr. Alexander graciously accepted an invitation to attend one of our famous Over 90's Club Afternoon Teas.

We had a wonderful afternoon with our silver service tea and fine china although they were probably not in the same category as the trophies in Mr. Alexander's cabinet that he got as a very successful tennis player for Australia. Everyone enjoyed a very informal time and Mr. Alexander has promised to come back and see our Over 90's Club members again soon.
